I am getting ready to cut ailerons & flaps. I am using a piece of angled Balsa (made for purpose of ailerons) ( 1.5" * 36) On the the wider side (that goes against wing and hinged), I need to make those angle cuts on top and bottom and all the way down entire piece so the ailerons can pivot easily up and down. My question.. Is there any easy way to cut these angles? My variable ...

Hi. This weekend i installed dual ailerons on my Cessna 180. After installing the servos and glued them in place i just wonder about one thing. How much travel should the ailerons have up and down on both sides? It seems like there is little movement on both servos either ways, but when using the flapswitch on my DX7 there seems to be a lot of movement. As this is the first mod ...

What brought about the distinct change in design philosophy that has seen airliners that routinely use the outboard ailerons to augment flap function? Examples: 777, A330/340, MD11. The use of inboard ailerons only in the same manner - as on the 767, for example - was seen a bit earlier. And, going still farther back in time, no other major jets ever used any of the ailerons (inboard or ...

Hi all, I like the look of the GWS tiger moth and was wondering if there was a way to add ailerons for more control. If so, has anyone done it? Thanks Patrick

Hey guys -- about 3 years ago, I built a Cox Micro Warbird (a Corsair, to be exact), and I added ailerons with some sort of "pull pull" cable I found at the local hobby shop. I honestly don't remember exactly what it is that I bought to make these ailerons work... Can you guys please help me jog my memory?

I have never owned a radio with more than 4 channels, and I am researching 6,7 and 8 channel systems to decide what to buy. I came across a post that said "It is very common to put the Aileron servos on Ch1 and Ch7..." and "Flap servo on Ch5 and Ch6...". Why would one use 2 channels for ailerons and then 2 more for flaps, rather than a single channel with a "Y" harness for each ...

I'm new to the hobby. I've flown a Harbor Freight Yellow Bee, (RIP) HZ Phantom, (Resurrecting soon) HZ Supercub, (kinda bored with it) and I have 2 GWS warbird builds in the works. (P51 & A10) They will be static displays until I'm confident enough. I am thinking of buying an El Cheapo Guanli RTF w/ailerons to use as an aileron trainer. If it gets demolished, I didn't lose much $. ...

Okay, so I've been around planes my whole life (like most of you reading this) and while some of you (pilots, mechanics, ground crew, etc) have seen it all, I think there's a wide assumption that if we fly a lot - we know what's "normal" and "safe" when it comes to aircraft. I've also flown some light AC with a friend who happens to be a flight instructor and would like to think I have a ...

I have built up a SkyLady power glider, and have a spare wing (not from the kit I bought an extra). Brief description of wing foam undercambered, 1300mm long, chord 180mm, polihedral with centre 500mm flat and 400mm each side raised to about 60mm, fuse at TE 45mm. As I gain experience with the SkyLady as a RE only I will be wanting to ease back into aileron flying with the same model....

Have a Wing Dragon Four with brushless and lipo and E-Flite ESC. Great flyer . Last time at the field the motor would not work. Since then, have "rebind", tried another motor and ESC, have disconnected the ailerons, rudder, elevator( I know, why?) Tried other E-flite receivers, 6100 and 6100E, 6000. The rudder, elevetor and ailierons work fine except the motor. The plane is jinxed, ...

SoaringNV has a pair of LS-4 ailerons at Rick Anderson's Yankee Composite shop on Lamson Field, near Clear Lake, CA. They're ready for pickup (and paid for), but I don't have time to drive over and back right now. If anyone is dragging a glider trailer from that neck of the woods to Minden, NV in the next month and would put the ailerons in the trailer, we'll give you a free tow. That ...

The ailerons were carried here by Barry D., a good friend and very active glider pilot who flies out of Minden. Regrettably, he has a motorglider so can't use a tow! Come on now Fred, you know I also have a Nimbus 3D that would love a tow from you! Barry

hi, i am trying to rig a plane, actually the plane is fully rigged, but now i was wondering how to assign real controllers to its control surfaces, like a joystick. for example, i created a 3 circle sphere, for the controller, and i have 2 ailerons. when i rotate the sphere on the Y axis, i want the left aileron to rotate up in the x axis, and the other one rotating on the opposite direction, ...

Hi Marty, I couldn't find the link Steve mentioned, but did find this, post # 297; http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...812119&page =20 Here the builder used one micro servo in the wing center, straight pushrods out to the ailerons, then cut-down servo arms as bellcranks to redirect the motion 90 degrees. The flexible micro pushrod tubing method would eliminate the bellcranks, but the ...

Hi AA, I'm using one "pre-defined" mix and two pmixes. All mixes are accessed from the main menu. First make sure the top rudder, plugged into the rudder channel, is moving the correct way, if not change the direction in the servo reversing menu. Set the first pmix to look like this to slave the two rudders together: [PROG.MIX1] RUDD->FLAP ON RATE: +100% +100% SW: ON ...

Well, it was in fact a simple problem, as many of you figured out. My locals at the field this morning confirmed that it was the ailerons not set on dual that was the issue. Afterwards, perfect. I also have been using the flaps. This morning I flew in some wind that was a bit more than I should have been flying in for the first time up with this thing, but even testing the flaps at high ...

Ace, A thorough corrosion inspection will take a minimum of 2 working days, but probably more. In particular, the fuel tanks should be pulled to look under and around them, and that is a misreable job if they have not been out for a while - could be a whole extra day in itself. The problem is, the other guy owns the plane, you're paying to have it inspected more thoroughly than it ...

Well, it was a combat model, so it needed to be- how shall I say- "solid". The balsa was the ailerons if I remember correctly. Originally Posted by RWF Yup, yer right!
