I was looking at the Adobe security updates and figured it might be a good idea to look at controlling their JavaScript features through Group Policies. There are a number of features that they have added to give it a more granular security approach. I was curious if anybody else has made a custom ADM file for these yet. When I try to open a PDF file I get this message: "The Adobe Acrobat ?Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again. I have downloaded the Adobe Reader 9.2..... but I still get this message???? Why do I keep getting this message? Thanks for your help.....

Actually, we're still on Windows XP, some on SP2 and some on SP3. Adobe Reader 8 works fine on WinXP. Everything was fine at version 8.1.2. We just recently deployed the upgrade, which entails installing the full version of Reader 8.1.3 and the 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 updates. People with Adobe Acrobat 8.1.7 seem to be fine. That link to other readers was provided by ZDNet. I would say anything on that list is probably trustworthy since ZDNet made the referral. UPDATE: Adobe plans to patch this issue on January 12, 2010.
