I see a reference to the SQL Server Activity monitor in some 2005 docs, but I have 2008 and MS doesn't list the Activity monitor under Tools, even though BOL references it. I have SQL Server 2008 SP1 developer.

Are the two items with a red dot beside them, both helpers of Quicklook & VMWare needed? Can they be disabled without repercussion? Also, what is the "mdworker" in the list?

This is not a problem, rather a matter of my curiosity. Some applications sometimes appear in the Activity Monitor with a process name of their real name, and other times as "(null)". What's the reason for this? I've noticed it particularly with Photoshop CS4, but also with Word 2004. Thanks! ...

I am getting max of 200Kb/s when streaming video on my activity monitor network tracker. We have a 1.5MB internet service and speedtest.net shows 1.3Mb. If we get the 7MB service will I see higher numbers in the activity monitor? Will I get faster downloads when buying movies on iTunes or is the network maxed out? We usually only have three people on the network and one dingdong ...

Hello, friendly people of MacForums, This is a screenshot of my Activity Monitor. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, but I just want you guys to check if there is anything running that shouldn't be running, or things that I should be quitting. I'm sure there are a bunch of stuff running in the background that I have no need for, but I'm not exactly sure what they are. If you ...

I leave the Acitvity Monitor running all the time with my CPU Usage as the dock icon. I like to see the cores working away. On my Quad MacPro at work I have four blue bars, on my old iMac C2D, MacBook etc. I have two bars. On my new i7 QC iMac I am only getting one bar. Any body have any thoughts on why this is? Has Apple changed the way the icon shows cores? Here is a link to a photo ...

I have only one SQL customer using SQL2008, so I tried the new Activity Monitor which shows several interesting figures about the server. I especially noted the Resource Waits area, which lists statistics from 10 different wait categories. I’m currently optimizing a heavily customized NAV solution where a few central records are locked in almost every transaction. Users are therefore often ...

Did he write that you should roll out this 'test' on all your clients? I think, he didn't. Please test it on one single machine, where the problem is located, for testing purposes.

Thanks Kalen, that's it. I'm used to 2000, working from 2005 material, on 2008 and at the end of a 12 hour day. > Hi Jay > [quoted text clipped - 13 lines] >> >> I have SQL Server 2008 SP1 developer.

Oh, thanks. Yeah, streaming video tops out at 168.79ish and works flawlessly. Speedtest.net spikes higher when testing or some downloads do too. Forgot the difference between bits/bytes. Thanks again. 13 macbook 2.16 1GB ...
