I am having trouble with Acrobat 8 Standard not showing a PDF I open. It will open the document fine, but all that displays is a gray page. I have tried repairing the installation, and re-applying all patches, but it is still the same. The selection pointer disappears when I move it through the grayed out page, like there is some layer blocking the view. I have checked through the settings ...

When I print to a PDF from Acrobat 8 I get a file size that is slightly larger than the original PDF file size. Example a 1.6 mb file becomes a 1.7mb file. When I print the same file in Acrobat 9 with the same settings (to my Knowledge) (setting = High Quality Print) I get a file that 36.1mb. The reason we would print the file in the fist place is that we need to create a PDF that is ...

Hi there.... I have been working away creating Postscript files using Acrobat 9 in Snow Leopard with no problems... I would go into my Quark Print dialog box.. select my printer which would normally be Acrobat 9 and then select the Output Style.... then select the Print PPD, again that would be Acrobat 9 and then select print and create my Postscript file for distilling. But now after the...

Running 8.1.7 Professional in OSX 10.6 using Safari 4.0.3 (32-bit) I noticed that my WillClose handler no longer runs when I close my PDF document inside of a browser window. Is this a matter of some settings that I need to enable, or has 8.1.7 disabled the WillClose inside of a browser. Any idea if this can be made to work would be appreciated.

Hey guys, Has anyone managed to sequence Adobe Acrobat 8 (not reader) successfully? I have installed it in my sequence and have removed the print drivers successfully and distiller but it is still giving me errors "Please install a printer before doing print related tasks". There is no refference to distiller or anyother print or PDF makers in my sequence but still it is not working. ...

I am trying to install Acrobat Pro 8 on a Windows 7 (32 bit) machine. But when I run the APRO8_Win_WEB_WWEFG.exe file, it gives me this error just as it reaches 100% complete: A Problem occurred while extracting some files . Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder Now I can successfully run the exe and successfully extract all the ...

I can't print pdfs from Acrobat Pro 9 or 8 or from Reader. The problem is definitely in the program. I can print any other document (even from other Adobe programs), and I can print pdfs from Preview. There is no doubt that the problem is in the Acrobat-reader applications somehow. I have spoken at great length with three Adobe techs and one tech supervisor. They agree with the diagnosis and ...

Thanks, Mike. I've been doing research this morning and found that info. Looks like it won't be long before we stop using Distiller altogether, as it looks like the SL architecture isn't going to support PPD. We're looking at options in Quark in "Export > Layout as PDF" as some of our clients have custom pdf settings we have to use, although when it comes to custom job option settings, we need...

Often a careless update causes Print Port reassignment. Check & correct if necessary to which port Adobe is printing, in Control Panel (probably in Printers-->Adobe-->properties, find port settings there). The solution is instant & has nothing todo with your OS bitwidth (64 or 32 bits), , don't worry ....

Thank you for the quick response. We are able to get some results through the Optimizer however they are not the same. Also we would like to keep from adding an extra step into the process. Especially a step that adds a lot of time to the process as the Optimizer does. In versions 7 and 8 we did not have run the Optimizer (we also did not have to do this in version 5 back in the ...

Even though this thread was active in 2008, I'm still having similar problems printing to a pdf with Adobe Standard 8.1.7 and Vista 64 Home Premium SP2. An update of Acrobat or Vista somehow conflicted. Infuriating (as computers can periodically be). When I tried to install the Vista 64 KB930627 fix addressed in this thread, good old MS had the gall to say it didn't apply to my system. I'd...
