Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this. Have any of you guys successfully used the AVIVO video converter? I tried it but it is still using the CPU for converting. I ran GPU monitor and the GPU load of the frequency did not go high when converting, it was always the CPU utilization that went high. What do I do to make it use the GPU instead of the CPU? Thanks!

So, I have noticed that many programs are now utilsing ATI's Avivo software. My question is this, can I use Avivo to encode video files onto a DVD using my GPU (Radeon HD 4890)? I have used Nvidia's "Badaboom" software to convert files to burn onto DVD's and found it to be amazingly faster than just utilising the CPU and I am hoping this to be the case with my ATI card too. i tried installing the avivo video convertor on my laptop(using catalyst 9.11 modded).but the catalyst install manager doesnt install avivo video convertor package.so i guess they only support desktop cards,is it so

I recently got the HD5850, but the Avivo color settings that do appear on my laptop with X1600 aren't there in the new CCC... Only Avivo video settings can be changed, but for the rest it remains a little bit too colorless for my taste. Any tips? Nevermind, I found it, damn they like to play hide and seek at Ati!

tried finding an answer to this but couldn't. i just got an ATI 4350 video card to replace my integrated hd3200 graphics for my BTV machine. after i installed the card, i installed catalyst center and the Avivo codec, along with powerdvd9. when i open up Btv, i only have the option of the Btv codec in playback, and no other codecs are available for video playback...am i missing a simple step ...

From: Dave Airlie In 2.6.32.2 r600 had no IRQ support, however the patch in 500b758725314ab1b5316eb0caa5b0fa26740e6b to fix vblanks on avivo cards, needs irqs. So check for an R600 card and avoid this path if so. This is a stable only patch for 2.6.32.2 as 2.6.33 has IRQs for r600. i am using cat 9.12 and the avivo encoder with my 5850 and windows 7 64 , the problem is i cant get avivo to open any media files , any time i try to select a file to encode to dvd it say something like the audio/video format is not supported , but i can use convertxtodvd no problems , i would just like to use the gpu to encode to ?
