I'm new to the forum. Not a computer person other than as a user. I need to upgrade memory (minimum of 4gb, now 1gb) and processor due to software upgrades. If it can be done, is it worth it? Seems like I just bought it a few months ago (it's been almost 3 yrs). I have adequate slots and capacity to upgrade memory. Thanks in advance for your help. Carol

What is the difference between the AMD Athlon 64 X2 series and the AMD Athlon II series processors. Vielleicht hab ich es überlesen - aber, welches Mainboard besitzt du - und, hat es eine Onboard Grafikkarte ? Diese könnte sich mit der anderen, also der "externen", zanken. Nicht jede Koexistenz solcher Kombinationen klappt reibungslos. Falls dem so ist, könnte es im Bios eine Funktion zum Ausschalten dieser geben.

Das M2N-MX SE Plus hat einen nForce 430 - Chipsatz, also einen der Ersten. Weiterhin ist der Sockel kein AM2+, sondern nur ein AM2, AM2+ ready. Da sind Probleme vorprogrammiert. Der nForce - Chipsatz hat immer wieder mit Problemen geglänzt und wird ja mittlerweile gar nicht mehr verbaut. If it says anything to you: I own a intel E8200 with 4 gigs of ram and a HD3870. And I can play Dragon Age with everything maxed out except for AA at 1080p with 30+fps. I am surprised myself that it worked as well as it did but apparently my HD3870 was enough.

The big difference is they support DDR3 as Cypher pointed out, but if you have a X2 6000 hold on to your money it's not a have to have upgrade, if you building new then opt for the Athlon II or Phenom II over the x2 6000.
