Owing to change of car, the following is available:- 2x 4 litres Gulf TEC Plus 5W-40 ACEA-A3/B3 API-SL/CF http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60138-gu...-oil-5w40.a spx Unopened, ie sealed, containers - accept £25 for the two, buyer collects (M42 Jct 10) Also K&N filter, to suit Astra-G (mk4) plus whatever else uses the same size - done 40,000 miles, needs cleaning and re-oiling, so...

I was looking at the cSt #s and I see that the syntec blend not the full syntec is a little thicker than gtx in 5w30. Are these oil very close to the same or is the syntec blend better? Also the 5w30 syntec blend says it meets ACEA A1. Anyone know what that is?

I'm running the FIAT dealer supplied 5W 30 Oil at the minute. Can I get away with switching to 0W 30 when I do my service or is it too thin on a cold startup?? I take it fully synthetic is ok as long as it meets ACEA rating reqd? (Can't remember if Selenia is fully or semi synthetic?)

Hi there. I have a 2002 1.6 8 valve, 77k and running well. I bought some 'Carlube 10W40' oil for the oil change but it says 'mineral' on the pack and the spec is API SL/CF, ACEA A2, B2. Is this OK to use or should I get some sem-synthetic such as Magnatec or Mobil Super which looks similar spec but is ACEA A3/B3 . I know the 8 valve is prone to mayonnaise...

Many thanks Charlie, makes more sense now. Couldn't log on to your links for w124 & ACEA, but got all the info I need from the Lubrizol site. My customer only wishes to adhere to procedures as laid out by the OEM, but I was curious as to what the difference is.
