^^^ Well I do agree with that, but what can you do? We can't exactly go to "the source" to make sure we're getting what it says we're getting. The State is supposed to monitor them, but who knows

Question for you Alex and thought this may help others decide. For your 3.5 engine, did dodge recommend 87 or 89 as the default ? I checked online and found your predator had the following tunes 93 Octane Performance Tune 91 Octane Performance Tune 89 Octane Performance Tune Since we dont' have 93 in our area, does that match up to an 87/89/91 for our area ?

87 octane burns so fast that is does not burn completely. 93 or alike burns little slower which inturns burns completely. You can just put lucas treatment ot pour seafoam in the tank and run 93 or alike for a few tanks ans it will clear it out. Or you can fill up with high test and go for a spirited drive, a couple WOT accellerations will clear out most of the carbon.

Some cars are fine running on 87 or 89 while others have to have 93 octane. Most people run a heavier weight oil especially if they have a Texas climate 10w-30 or even more sometimes. Synthetic vs nonsynthetic is a huge debate, but most people agree synthetic is better. Don't use synthetic if the car has lots of mileage on nonsynthetic, otherwise it should be fine. Redline a day isn't a bad ...

There is a reason the manual says to use synthetic, specifically Mobil 1. Same reason they say to use 93 octane or higher. But you probably use 87, right?

The 4.0 SOHC engine has very good compression, over 9.5:1 I believe. That will work very well with high octane fuel, I would expect to see almost equal fuel mileage with a 91 or 93 tune, versus an 87 tune. Meaning do what you are planning, but expect to be very satisfied with running the best gas full time. Al has been successful with leaning out his 87 tune a lot, but his priority is the fuel...
