hi guys got the strange crunchy rattle noise when i put the car in 5th gear its an 03 new age sti i see other people have talked about this and was just hoping for some guidance on how to check this 5th gear nut they talk about or how to tell if its synchro-mesh damage many many thanks

My new 8 only 6 weeks old and only 1200 mile on it ...this week, I just found out when I shift to 5th gear w/ the clutch push all the way in, I can feel the grinding on my hand, it sound like zzzzhhhh zzzzzhhhh. it maybe only happened on "high rpm", like 5k and above... I am not sure its happened on low rpm... I forgot XD .... but when I on 5th gear, take it back ...

So since I put the bigger tires on the Jeep, ive completely lost 5th gear on the highway... Ill be cruisin 70 in 4th, shift to 5th, and drop to 60 MPH instantly. Recently had Exedy Pink Racing clutch kit installed. Clutch works fine & has been since installation, though in reverse it can occasionaly burn a bit. The flywheel was near perfect & not skimmed. My '06 G35 6MT occasionally has a glitch shifting into 5th gear. About 20% of the time - regardless how fast I shift - it feels like I let the clutch out and it grinds a bit. arrr on closer inspection,the vibration damper has parted (still very happy tho unless it open wallet surgery for another damper ) im harvesting mi olives next week ,so im going to dig a little pit with the mini digger and get the prop off cheers Steve
