UOAs on my Jeep since new. My Jeep is not a daily driver. It is either bouncing around in the high desert or driving to the desert. First oil report is factory fill. Next two are Motorcraft 5w-20, Next is M1 T&SUV 5w-30. Last two oil changes are Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30. Copper has always been high but is slowly trending down. Everything else is looking good. Comments?

This is a UOA on Formula Shell 5W-30 SM run for one year and 7000 miles in a 2006 Nissan Frontier 4x4 with the VQ40DE engine. The truck has 19,350 miles on it in mixed driving conditions including frequent 4x4 usage. Its most strenuous service included one run up to the top of Mauna Kea (13,900 ft ASL) and back down, with WOT in 2nd gear for much of the drive up and 5000-6000 rpm engine braking...

Question, I'm planning to take the car next Friday for an oil change. On the dealer, they put Castrol Syn 5W-30 on the Accord and I think they did the same thing with the Pilot (2009, first oil change, 6400 miles). Wally World has the jug of Mobil 1 for $21 on sale, which obiously I'm gonna get 2. Now the big question: Shold I get the 5-20 or the 5-30 for both cars? Accord is putting an...

Redline 5w-30 on sale at C/T Canadian tire store in Guelph has Redline 5 & 10w-30 oil on sale at $6.49/quart. I picked up 24 quarts today for my Explorer. Regular price is over $12.xx/quart.

Hi My local auto shop has a special on Castrol Edge 5W-30 fully synthetic oil. It's half price! normally costs a little more than the Mobil 1 5W-40 I normally use. I'm looking for an opinion on this oil. My main concern would be that 5W-30 would be a bit "thin" for the hot climate we have here. Have had Mobil 1 5W-30 Extended Performance "M" in a Sentra SER with 2.5L 4 cylinder, usually found in the much larger, heavier Altima. Engine produces maximum torque at only 2800rpm. I did a quick google of their most current oil specs. Here's a pdf of Ford's requirements (the 930-A spec) which is a replacement for their older double time test, which has since been dropped. It's slightly less stringent. Honda, I believe still keeps the double time test. It is the IIIG test. Ford would do it for twice the time the test calls for. http://www.swri.org/4org/d08...

Kyllä se sitä PAOa ennen olikin, nykyäänkin luulisin että suurin osa on PAOa mutta ei sitä nyt enää tiedä kun eivät suostu ilmoittamaan. Going from a 5W-20 to a 5W-30 didn't seem to help copper much if any. It is trending down on its own I'd say. I doubt a thicker oil would help any. I'm sure it won't hurt to try either. I've been very happy with PP in my car. If it spec.'s 5W-20 why not try PP 5W-20 instead of the 5W-30 and see how it works?
