I changed the operating system on my nieces Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5900 from the preinstalled Vista enterprise to XP Home at her request. Everything except the 56k dialup modem and sound don't work. Does anyone know where I can get the correct drivers for XP Home on this Laptop, thanks.

hi all i have streamyx, therefore, i have a phone line too. i very seldom fax, hence a fax machine is too much luxury to me. but if i could have the send/receive fax service for adding a 56k internal modem, it is a very good solution during some occasion my insurance company to fax some document to me. please guide me, hot to send/receive fax with 56k modem? thanks....

I have Mac USB 56k modem still on my desk that could be easily plugged back into my computer. Is there a program out there that would let me answer calls on my land line through my computer? Specifically I'd like to use it to answer unwanted calls and play the SIT tone.

Sure you could use ppp to do so. Modems make me all warm and fuzzy for my bbs days... except for the speed part. A modern backup over a modem... is... unlikely unless you're *extremely* choosy about what you backup. http://tldp.org/HOWTO/PPP-HOWTO/

$80 a month for 3MB down, and 256K up DSL crap. Much better then the fake cable internet up here (advertise as 10MB, and you get 56K modem speeds), at $180 a month.
