I'm looking for recommendations for oil for my 2001 GM 9,500 lbs Savana Box Van, it has 220,000miles on it. I have been using Delvac 1300 15-40 in all vehicles. (Factory spec calls for 5-30) Just because they all have around 200,000 miles on them and i understand it is a good oil to minimize wear. It uses about a quart every 387 miles. I drive it typically 30 minutes between stops.

Well I'm about a year behind on this swap, or more. I picked up this Vortec 350 late last spring, and it has turned into a real budget swap. Not what I intended, but that's just the way it has to be with the move coming up. The engine has about 180,000 on it. The Tahoe was rolled, and the engine ran great. I pulled it down to inspect. will a LS1 intake & injectors work on my 96 5.7 vortec? if so what all is involed? i'm planning on upgrading my spider injectors but if the LS1 intake & injectors will work without a bunch of computer swaping i may just go this route seeing that i can get a LS1 intake for the about the same the upgraded spider would cost. any info is greatly appreciated.

I would rather replace the engine with a low milage 5.3 from the junkyard, but I dont know if the wiring or ECU will work? Does anyone know of a swap thread or website about swaping the vortec 5.7 to the vortec 5.3? What about the tranmission? I might as well replace that with a new one. Will I have any problems going to the 5.3 tranny 4x4? Thanks Nick...

i recently purchased a 2 door tahoe its a 93 with a complete 96 update. the truck runs but it had a bottom end knock, i was quoted 1100 for a rebuild but have found an add for a 2002 5.7 vortec for 400.00 the engine is complete minus intake will that block swap with my 96 vortec? is there a 2002 5.7vortec? i thought they were the 5.3 in 02 ofcourse i could be wrong im no expert. thanks for any ...

My son and I replace the vortec 5.7 motor and it ran for five min. then we replace all sensors tps, ckp,cmp,fuel pres sensor, then we replace the fuel pump and it ran great but then my son replace the exhaust pipe and o2 sensors now it will not start.

hey i have been runnin my 97 z71 with out rear o2 sensor for like 10,000km ,, ive been meaning to do the computer swap and eliminate the rear o2s but in the meantime i was wondering... what does the computer do to comphensate for the missing o2s? would it throw it into some sort of limp mode? it still has good pick up but i am thinkin the mid range and throttle response is ...

thanks to all for the help. i took out the engine and verified that one rod was knockin. i took the crank to the machine shop, crank had to be replaced. i got a new crank, new main and rod bearings and after many hours got it back in the truck and runing
