5.45x39 AR owners ? I am thinking of getting a S&W AR in 5.45x39. 1. How bad is the cleaning after shooting? 2. Problems? Corrosion, Keyhole, extract, reliability, etc. 3. Accuracy? 4. Complete S&W or S&W upper + spikes lower with MOE stock? Only diff is shipping cost. I already have a 5.56 AR and want the 5....

I've got 1,080 rounds of surplus 5.45X39. My Bulgarian '74 is too pretty to pump this corrosive stuff through, & I don't have the time to throughly clean up afterwards. Really looking to swap it out for some NON-CORROSIVE 5.45X39. PM me with what you've got, & quantities. I work in & around Woodbine, St. Marys & Kingsland.

...I guess there's also .308 as well. I'm not really that excited about shotgun AK's, but I guess you can throw them into the mix as well. Considering the platform, practical uses (for defense, hunting small/medium game, fun plinking), ammo availability, ammo choices, ammo price, cartridge effectiveness, which is the best caliber? I'm sure this topic has NEVER been presented on...

Well, I tried the Silver Bear ammo and had an even worse ratio of clicks to bangs than I did the first time out. 13 of 30 had dented primers, but no ignition. On a whim, hunch, feeling, whatever you want to call it, I removed the accuwedgie chunk out of the lower, reloaded the dud rounds and got 100% ignition. 30 out of 30 rounds on the paper and in the black (not dead bulls eye, but close ...

I run a 20" Model1 5.45 upper on one of my AR's. The reason, I like to shoot cheap ammo for practice on the weapon system I carry for a living. It is accurate, fun and cheap to shoot. No issues andd just clean good once you get done shooting. I like the AR platform so I''d recommend it.
