4 Wheel Drive Shift on the Fly Motor Recently I have noticed a motor noise when I start the truck on some mornings (in 2WD). I finally figured out it is the 4WD motor. It runs for 10 seconds or so then stops. I figured it out when I used 4WD this week. When I select 4WD the motor runs and engages the 4WD but after driving a short distance ...

i have an 82 and an 83 4x4 and they both are doing the same thing, an odd grinding noise coming from my front axle while it has barely any strain on it, it sounds just like gears are stripping out in my 83 and my 82 just started but i'm sure its the same problem. it only does it in 4wd (high or low range) with the hubs locked, and i believe it's coming from the axle or possibly hubs? if anyone ...

Hi all, I need to buy a new car soon (minivan) and I will be potentially be moving to Denver in the near future. As I am looking at different cars, I was wondering if 4-wheel drive is an important feature if you live in Colorado, in the Denver area... I appreciate any input you might have on the topic... thanks

Hello, I'm no good with cars so really need some advice. At the moment I've got a 3 door pugeot 206 but with a new baby and living down country lanes I really need something 5 door and 4 wheel drive so I can get out and about in the ice and snow (last year I couldn't get my car up our track for a week because of the snow). I'm reluctant to buy a big 4x4 for economical and environmental ...

When I hear some one say they don't use A-Trac, E-locker or even 4WD unless nearly or actually stuck I just laugh. You paid for it so why not use it?! A traction aid is just that....IT ADDS TRACTION. If I am looking at a mud hole or slippery slope the AT and locker go on before needed. The locker is switched on/off as needed only because it causes unnecessary tire wear on hard ground and ...
