We're considering a move to TriBeCa from UES. What...We're considering a move to TriBeCa from UES. What personal advice can you all give me about schools (already know about insideschools.org) and where we'd be able to fit in? Two DCs, one going into kindergarten next September, and one in 3rd grade.

Dear admissions: Sorry to bother you during your holiday break, but I have a grave question to ask. Your application says: "If English is not your native language, the TOEFL or IELTS is required." Although English is my second language, I came to the US when I was in third grade. Plus, I have my standardized test scores to prove my English abilities. If this is the case, am I required ...

I'm looking for chapter books for my 6 year old daughter. She reads about a 3rd grade reading level independently and can read up to 5th/6th grade with assistance from me. We read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory together this fall among others. I want to get her some new books that she will enjoy and be challenged by. She is an artsy child, who loves to draw and participates in ...

I live in manhattan too - second grade ds. No tv allowed during playdates. They play with toys in ds' room. But, we don't have them often. Meeting a playground works better for us.

I'm glad to see this thread- I have a similar problem- finding books for my 4 year old boy (he'll be 5 in Feb) reading at a grade 2 level independently, grades 3/4 together with me. We have recently finished Charlotte's Web... Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I have a hard time telling many of the letters apart. Many of them don't even look like they are "supposed" to look like in my mind. In my mind a "G" is a "G" and should always look like "G", the cursive "G" looks nothing like that.
