Recently I had my Canon 300D fail on me.....CRAP NOW WHAT? Come to find out from what I can tell the sub mirror pin has broken and now it wont auto focus in some functions and it has a crappy dark shadow on top of the pictures...I guess it is common with the 300D. I have found a decent condition 1987 300D Turbo with faded paint for $800 ... Its got 185K miles on it and the drivers door lock cylinder is missing (still locks tho) drivers side rear window doesnt work, bald tires, and torn leather... but it drives real good and sounds pretty good as well... way smoother running than my 4 or 5cylinder diesel mercedes... Any suggestions to ease the replacement of glow plugs on my 91 300d 2.5? Should I use anti seize (copper or aluminum base)? Should I try to vacuum out the chamber? Should I soak the plugs with penetrating oil? Torque specs for the Plugs? Any info appreciated.

I have had to replace the vacuum pump on my 78 300D three times in less that 20, 000 miles. I love this car but it is eating vacuum pumps. They are expensive. I'd rebuild but the rod is shattered every time. Anyone have an idea on what might be killing these pumps? Thanks, M
