Hey guys, I absolutly loveeee my 2006 330i, no complaints at all except for one....... Does it lag between 1st and 2nd gear on an automatic for all? a good example is when you accelerate from a dead stop. or is it just mine? I tried accelerating from a dead stop out of 2nd and it was smooth, just like all the other gears. What do you guys with 330's experience?

I just traded in my '05 G35 a/t for an '08 G37s 6mt. Jan. 1st. Wow, what a great car. This is not my first stick, and I often drive my g/f Altima mt. My question is about starting off in 2nd gear. I have my old transmission laying in my garage now..Its got a broken 2nd gear. I didnt open it up and look in it. I guess it could be used for PPG set up or something. Make me an offer. Currently shifting through 1 - 4 is fine however when I try shifting down from 3rd to 2nd it never shifts down. Which means I either have to take corners fast in 3rd or slow right down to drop into first. What's the likely cause of such problems? Hi folks, I read somewhere (in this forum) that if I shifted to tiptronic, I could put the car in 2nd gear for a better take off in the snow. Mine won't do that, it stays in first. Even if I come to a stop in second gear, it automatically shifts into first. Is there anyone that has experience with this? I used to be able to do this with both my Chevy and my Dodge. hi to every one, my leon cupra has developed a fault, when changing up the box theres sometimes a little crunch, but when changing down from 3rd to 2ndit crunches really bad and doesnt want to go into 2nd. i pressume this is seriouse, any ideas?? thanks in advance
I have a series 3 1983 - changing up from 1st to 2nd to 3rd is fine. Changing down from 3rd to 2nd, it 'grates' into 2nd gear. Any ideas why please and what I need to do to sort it?

I've done about everything you can do to a car, except touch an automatic trans, guess I've always found them a little intimidating. I'll check the servo cover and see if it will push in. (now my ignorance is going to show) If the band is broke or needs replacing, does the trans have to be torn down? Thanks for the help!

So i just finished installing my GT2860RS, car running strong. But every time in 2nd gear and building up boost to like 5000rpm, car will stutter. What exactly is going on? And i think especially when the car is cold.

I am using BKR6E that are pre-gapped to whatever, but I didn't gap them at all. But the funny thing is my idle is super smooth, even cold start at -1C. Prior to tearing into that trans I'd be taking a look at the 2nd gear brake band servo seals. If they are as hard as a rock, cracked, brittle, or broken the piston in that servo piston will be inoperable, and cause a pressure loss on the 2nd gear band also-it's mess up the second gear shift without blinking an eye.

Did you flush the oil cooler or just do a drain and refill? If the fluid was so bad I would recommend that you do it again as there will be lots of undesirables in the transmission. Then in about 2 - 3000 miles do it again as the new fluid will be picking up all the grungey bits and you will be able to get more of them out. For the next three fluid changes you would help things if you did a ...
