By which I mean, which game had the best "World 1" "World 2" etc amongst SMB3, World, Wii, DS, and so on? Include the 8-bit games if you like. W1: Wii W2: SMW W3: SMW W4: SMB3 W5: SMB3 W6: Wii W7: SMB3 W8: Wii W9: Wii Mario Bros Wii having the best World 8 IMO was an easy choice to make. I didn't like the excessive war machine-based thing 3 had going on, which made for only two regular levels ...

I'm talking sprite-based games here, none of that 2.5D stuff. Are there any standouts on the way? The only big one I know about is Shank, which hasn't officially been announced for XBLA yet.

Okay, so some of my friends and I are designing a side scrolling game as a University example. (We want to take an advanced course and we need to show previous skill) They want me to make a Mac version but I don't have enough experience to answer my question myself. Whats better for a 2D side scroller. OpenGL or Cocoa Functions like CI/QE? In terms of performance really, I don't really care ...

Hi - two issues! 1. Does anyone know where I can find the sample assignment for L2 Unit 7? There is no assignment on the website from what I can see so if someone could help me that'd be great! 2. Does anyone have any exemplar material for L3 Unit 5? Again there is no sound exemplar material available and it's hard to deliver this from scratch when neither I nor my school have ...

“I don’t think everything needs to be 3D, or that just because we’re seeing more 2D games now, that everything’s going to shift back to 2D. Instead, I think that what’s going on is that people are realizing the benefits of a 3D game, and at the same time, remembering what the benefits of 2D games were. When going 2D, you need the courage to...

CubetoonsCreator posted: As an animator, 3D sucks. I mean, it's nice and all, but I just like 2D a whole lot more. 3D has some fake quality to it, probably the whole uncanny valley thing. Plus you're much more limited. In 2D, you can get away with some crazy, crazy stuff, and it just makes it look awesome. In 3D if you start breaking ...

Well if you played SMW for GBA, then this game is WAAAY harder. That game gives you an extra "layer" when you get a fire flower/cape, in comparison to the original. But even then, the level designs aren't that hard. Some of the cave levels towards the end were hard, and the special world ones, and the buzzsaw levels were hard too... But this game has harder levels than SMW. I can say that ...
