Hi all, I want to configure my Catalyst 2950 switch with a static IP in the scope of 192.168.1.x (most probably 192.168.1.2) which will then happily route traffic onto machines and printers that will carry static IP's in the same scope (192.168.1.3 etc.)... Basically.... I already have a firewall acting as a DHCP server so don't need to switch to act as one (assuming it can even act as...

Hi, I am bringing my Blackberry Storm 2950 to Cuba as it has recording capabilities and holds my music for practicing piano, and also takes okay photos, and has my dictionary on it. I'm wondering if it will also work as a phone or email there, and if so if there is a local SIM card for it available there, and if so what the rates generally are for use. Thanks a lot.

Both are total overkill for a home network. I am not too familiar with the 2950, but have worked with the 1900 a long time ago. You may find the configuration daunting. We used a console connection to config. There is lots of info on the net about both of these switches. If you like to tinker and play and want to have some bragging rights for a home network, by all means go for it. ...

I am planning some UPS hardware upgrades to an APC 3000 230V and do not want to take down the servers. I have a couple of 120V APC 1500 UPS and I would like to unplug one of the servers power supply and plug it into the 1500. Will there be any issues with unplugging a live server that has the redundant PS plugged into a 230V UPS and plugging it into a 120V UPS? Thanks

None of the hardware has an OS on so it has to be the boot from CD/DVD/USB/PXE option like HP, IBM, etc. I have found ...

Hello all, I have configured an RSPAN monitoring session on a 2950 switch. I have configured a remote-span VLAN from the VTP server switch, and checked on my monitoring source switch (VTP client in the domain) that the VLAN shows up as a remote-span VLAN. I have configured the reflector port on the client, and the destination port and source remote-vlan on the server. No matter what ...
