I have a 83 22re (early version of 22re motor both block and head are different in 85+) with 230k. The head gasket blew a couple months ago so I had a friend who is a mechanic fix it. After he got done it wouldn't idol and there was no compression in cylinders 2 and 3. Surprisingly the car (It's in a celica) still ran as long as I was steping on the gas. Hello, I would love some help. I have a 1987 22re Rebuilt and but it into a buggy. I spliced the harness and got it running. However it runs like crap. A very rough idle is all I have. What I know: I know is starts and it runs rough That tells me that is has fuel, spark, and air. Check distributer (spelling) and timing against the factory service manual and it is good....

does anyone elses 22re have a quick rev but kindah takes a while to get back down to idle,not like a vacume problem but just alot longer than im used to, ive had 22r's rev and the thing just snaps back to idle...just was wondering if it was normal on a 22re...or if theres anything i can do to snap it up...lmk thanks

I have an FJ80 LC, and I love it, but I needed a truck, and better mpg so I just bought a 94 22RE 5spd 4x4 truck and I have a couple of questions from the experienced truck guys if you don't mind. I don't rock crawl, the truck is a 99.9% daily driver, I pretty much trail ride from time to time, and want the truck to be as capable as it can without major mods. I am going to put lockers in it....

Is this swap worth the hassle?anyone done this before?friend was asking me and I am not sure that its a good idea considering all the wiring under the dash that might have to be swapped aswell as the engine compartment harness.
