My Inspiron 1545 laptop has been randomly shutting down lately. When it does, it will first close all open programs, log out, and then shut down, not just go straight to shut down. I know it's not overheating because I have a computer fan and the laptop does not feel hot at all. Why is this happening?

I have tried to get my Dell Inspiron 1545 (with 2 cpus) to boot and display Ubuntu 9.10 LiveCD and DVD (including the 9.10 Dell recovery DVD), both 32-bit and 64-bit. When i log into my user, i get a blank white screen for 2-3 minutes, followed by the windows terminal, then it starts up as normal. Running windows vista on a 32 bit Dell inspiron 1545 laptop with core 2 duo processor 1 person needs an answer I do too
