I am currently using VLC as my player for .MKV files. While the playback is fine the subtitles are often a mess, overlaping each other or changing sizes... Is there a better player for .mkv files By the way I use a Dell Laptop, with 1 gig of ram, Windows XP Pro, 128mb video card.

I dont see why most dvd player can support xvid, divx and cannot include additional container like mkv, mp4 and rmvb. Does it due to technological constrain or cost constrain ? Any advise ? I do think that a dvd player will dorminate market share if it is very versatile and can play lots of different format.

I want a player that plays AVI files from DVD-R & RW disks and .mkv files if thats possible? If the .mkv thing isnt possible..what would be the best way of being able to view these on my TV. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks

VLC Player on my Mac Mini 2.53Ghz/4GB stutters just a tad when playing 720p/mkv files...are there anyways to tweak the settings to improve this? Or is the a better video player to use? I've seen lots of similar posts around this forum, but all for much older Mac Minis, I'm wondering if anyone has solved this for the newer models. Thanks!

Couple days playtime... I love this machine. For those wondering about power use, I tried the second Avatar trailer in 1080P (just for a high-power decode challenge) streamed, the power meter never went past 7.4 watts.
