.45 auto rim I reload and recently bought a Taurus Judge which of course is in cal. .410 / 45 Long Colt. I went to the local range and didn't like the performance with .410 buckshot loads. I could only shoot at the 25 yd. distance, so the best pattern (3 pellets) was maybe one hit in center of mass (on a siloute) target and the ...

Was the 45 Colt recoil that much worse than the 410 loads? They should be similar except for the slugs which are so light. I hope you weren't using 45 Colt for the Ruger or Thomson Contender Only type loads -- too powerful for your gun! If "regular" 45 Colt is too much for you, try the 45 Colt "Cowboy loads". They tend to be low velocity lead loads. If you want to handload, use the 45 Colt ...

loading for 625-10, want maximum accuracy out of pleasant load. Can use 200-250g cast lead or 230 g FMJ. Never have loaded AR before. Had good results with W231 5.1g 230FMJ or 225 TC lead.

Can I use my .45ACP dies to load 45 AUTO RIM? Should I switch to a roll crimp die? If I'm shooting 45acp in a revolver, should I use a roll crimp on it? I'm new to the whole 45 revolver thing, but I thought it would be fun.

Match your crimp to the bullet. If it has a cannelure, then roll crimp it, otherwise taper will do just fine. I have a Taurus 455 (5 shot 45ACP Tracker) that I load 250gr 45 Colt lead flat nose bullets (from a Lee mould) into 45 ACP cases for. They have a cannelure, so I roll crimp. I also shoot Berrys 230gr plated round nose from it and I taper crimp those. Over the last 6 ...

I see they make this round for revolvers with a 255 grain Keith style semi-wadcutter lead bullet. They rate the velocity at 904fps from a six inch barrel. What do you think of this as a defensive round? It definately had the weight!

If the LSWC was soft enough, it might do ok against human targets but JHP would be better. If they would HP that big LSWC, then you would have a serious SD round. I agree w/ sigf though, go JHP.
