I was interested in converting a 300 win mag to 300 RUM. Can this be done by reaming the 300 win mag barrel with a 300 RUM reamer and no other modifications assuming that the magazine is long enough to handle the RUM? If so, does anyone know of a reliable gunsmith that can do this?

Picking a starting bullet (300 RUM)

To my great surprise I not only found brass but also large magnum rifle primers right away and can start thinking seriously about load development in 300 RUM. I'm planing to load 180 gr to 3000 fps, right now only for paper punching at long distances. I'm looking for suggestions on bullets to pick. Sierra Matchking seems a good start, but Lapua has a new 185 gr with a very nice BC, ...

decent scope for 300 rum

Breaking in new 300 rum rifle?

After reading a few posts lately I am concerned about the fact that I did not break in my new 300 rum sendero. I have seen various opinions about this in this forum but the fact that I have not had the groups I had hoped with the rifle makes me question the fact that i just shot the rifle right out of the box pretty much. I have put 60 rounds through the rifle using various factory Rem ammo.

Finally got the break in done on the Rem 700 chambered in 300 RUM. Shot Rem ammo Powerlevel 1 as a 150 grn Accutip, Powerlevel 2 as 180 grn Scirocco and Powerlevel 3 as 180 grn Scirocco as well. All shots from a bench. Cleaned barrel between first 20 shots to break in the gun. After that I cleaned it between groups. I figure I am still polishing the rifling. I am not a Marine sniper...

Hello, I am in the market for a long range hunting rifle. I will be predominantly hunting whitetails and elk at ranges out to 500 yds. However, I want to be able to “play” out to 1000yds.
