Thread: zip code database?

Hi. Is there a free zip code -to- city/state database available online somewhere? All of the ones I see are for sale. thanks.

Hi C. Here is the USPS site which gives you zip codes based on your input: http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp but my guess is that you are probably looking for a complete data base you can reference to. Anyway I tried. ~TG~

Thanks for that thought, TG. The USPS does sell its zip data, for $297, through these people: http://www.maponicsonlinestore.com/products/report s-&-da... I kept looking after I asked here and I found a free database. http://www.shopno-dinga.com/WebService/zipinfo/zip codes_2006... I know that some of the zips I'm familiar with are accurate, which makes me assume the whole thing...

If you are developing a Web application, you can see if The USPS web tools can help: http://www.usps.com/webtools/ You will need to register, but I think its use is free. Reading the terms It state: "User agrees to use the USPS Web site, APIs and USPS data to facilitate USPS shipping transactions only."
