The last three RM250's that I've owned, a '90, '02 and now a '08, were all great bikes in my opinion. I did manage to blow up the '02 but that was because I believed the previous owner when he said that it had a new top end... A month later the piston shattered. After I fixed it, it ran great for another 5 years. Normally I install a new piston every year, that one time I didn't and it cost ...

Love my RM! Its as reliable as any other bike out there. Nimble and fast when tuned properly. I run in a vet class with all 450's and the worst start I got this year was 3rd or 4th out of the 1st turn. Awesome bike if you can find one in good shape for sale. C'mon 2010 RM250!

I love my current rm250 (1997) and loved the former ones too! (1981 and 1982). Havent run the 97 against any other 250's, but raced the 1982 for 2 seasons and it was as good or better than any other 250's at the time.

Best part IMO with the 01+ RM is the parts availability. Many parts over these 8 years interchange, which will make keeping them running in the future much cheaper and easier.

I love my 08. Been running a 8 race hare scramble series this year plus some extra races and regular riding for good measure with no problems.

Remove all Advertisements Yes, the shorter rake increases handling. Think of the shopping carts at your grocery store. The front wheels on those carts have no rake. They are just straight up and down and you can turn the cart very easily. But when you cruise down the isle they wobble and shake all over the place. On the other hand, think of custom choppers with really raked out front ends. Those bikes are ultra stable when going in a straight...

Thanks for the excellent info, that is what I was looking for. Does the Rm turn better because of a shorter rake? Do they make trees that fix that for the yz? I seen them for street bikes before but not sure about dirt Thanks
