Thread: where can you get Vital wheat gluten for bread maker?

So I posted earlier about where to find bread flour and decided to just use all purpose since people said it's okay to use in Canada, and my bread turned out ok but with whole wheat it's quite dense but I really want the health benefit of whole wheat as opposed to white and can't seem to make it fluffier.. I heard somewhere if you add vital wheat gluten to the mix it makes it fluffier but at planet organic and save on foods...

I'm not anywhere near you but have bought some in my health food shop - both in bulk and prepackaged - and am fairly sure they sell it in the grocery store too...but that would def be prepackaged

Sorry, I don't know where you can buy it in bulk. I buy the prepackaged ones from the health food section at Loblaws. Never found it at any health food stores and the sales associates never know what I am talking about when I ask them where I can find it. But I can tell you that it does make a difference for me when I make whole grain bread. I mill my own flour from wheat berries and use 100% whole grain flour for baking my bread. Before...

Don't know where in BC you are but if your close to Vancouver I'd try "capers" they have a bulk section, or at least if it's not in the bulk section they should at least have it there packaged
