Thread: weird side affect of implants?

I should add that I was told the exact same thing as Venus mentioned above.? But I've never actually heard of this happening to a specific person.

thanks a bunch..I've read more about it and itis a odd sie effect,but it worried me initially. Thanks for the encouragement though. I really appreciate it. Surgeries worry me but I want whats best for my DD no matter what. I'm so glad i've found a good support group here :)

I just met with our surgeon the other day and while explaining the surgery to me, she did say that at a point in the surgery they get VERY close to the facial nerve(s?) and that it's a point where they have to be very very precise, b/c if affected it could effect facial movements, taste etc etc. But she said it is uncommon to have any issues, it's just one of the risks that they encounter during surgery and obviously do everything...

We were told this also, but our ENT used a facial nerve monitor during surgery.? I didn't even know she did that until Payton came out of surgery with marks on her face...then she told us about it.? Ask your ENT if they use that...might help ease your fears a little bit. I might add that if your LO?will never know the difference.? It's like hearing with a CI vs hearing with our ears.? They don't have anything to compare it to,...
