Thread: weight cutting rules??

first of all, i dont really watch boxing all that much. in other words, im a noob. but on to my question. i read from some where that a boxer can only gain a certain amount of weight after the weight in. anybody know how much?

New York has a rule where two fighters can't have more than 11 lbs between them after a weigh-in (I think)

Are large cuts in weight considered taboo in boxing? Clottey,apparently is a huge weight cutter, and Arturo Gatti was know for cutting alot of weight also which caused alot of controversy after his fight with Joey Gamache. It doesn't suprise me that mma fighters cut so much weight as many of them come from that wrestling background where weight cutting is essential to compete. What ...

Dr. Flip Homansky had a lot to do with making the switch from same-day weigh-ins to day-before weigh-ins in the interest of "fighter safety", and Jose Sulaiman of the WBC circus really put his weight behind him on getting that changed.
