I want to travel from Turin to Briancon on 26th Dec 2009. I'm finding it difficult to find timetable info for this. Does anybody know if trains/buses are running as it's a bank holiday?
Hi There,
It may be too late for this reply but I will be very happy to look after you . All details at www.fly-chamonix.com
If this is too late , I hope that you had a great time !
Regards,
Sean
Hello,
The answer to your question depends largely on what is planned on the Tour you are looking to, and what kind of weather you are going to get there. If you are lucky, you could get a splendid late autumn, sunny, blue sky type of weather, and your trip is going to be great, with a magnificent view of the whole range of Mont Blanc, or you could get a rainy or cloudy...
I've stayed in Cairn twice. Modern, spacious, great views. Hot tub is a bit temperamental and hard to keep warm, but that's a minor disadvantage. There's also a nice sauna.
We've had great chalet hosts both times, so hope you have as good luck as us.
Are you referring to Bonne near Annemasse?
As far as I know, there is no direct bus from Geneva to Bonne. You have to take a tram to Moillesulaz (nb 16) then bus Nb2 from Moillesulaz to Annemasse, then bus Nb 101 or 102 to Bonne.
Timetable for Bus 101 abd bus 102 :

Hi, your help/insights would be helpful. My wife and I are preparing plans for a Paris-Alps-Burgundy trip for early next July.
We're planning on 4-5 days in the Haute-Savoie . We'll be taking the train from Paris to Annecy and overnight/visit there. We want to saty in the Chamonix area for a couple of nights and do sight-seeing in that area, including Mt. Blanc, etc....
We did the less rugged version last year - highlights of the tour of Mont Blanc www.chaletsavoy.com/thetourofmontblanc.html (not my photos, but the same views). I only visit refuges for lunch and bilberry pie. And we've spent a week around Zermatt , but didn't do anything too strenuous.
Do post back with your experiences, then the next person who wants help will be able to read ...
Hello all,
I have booked a one-week family holiday in Tignes, which will take place late in March next year. My wife, son and I would like to do some challenging off-piste skiing for a few days. Do you recommend any specific Ski-Guides/Instructors that we could use?
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Hi again, Hiring your own car can work out well, especially if there are a few of you and don't mind your luggage on your laps. Don't forget the additional costs of tolls and parking in resort - I don't know how much a week's parking in Meribel is, but in Tignes for example, it's about 90 Euros now. Then of course there's snow-chains and driving on ice. The roads into and around Meribel are not going to be...
www.merinet.com Hi, yes the meribel webcam site is also good. It has certainly been wonderful to watch nature do it's thing. All that first dump of snow disappeared, then the other day, back it came and hopefully, this is what I will be skiing on very soon. You will have a brilliant time in January. On looking at my previous post, I realised I had put a dot where it should not have been, so I have retyped the website above, so you people...
How many people ? Do you want to be in Chamonix or one of the outlying villages ? Villages are normally cheaper and quieter. For Hotels I would start with www.chamonix.com and go to accommodation.
Hi there, thanks for the info. I got a big scare when I read the news as I thought our group has paid up already. Seems it is still possible but we will definitely reconsider. Where do you guys rent? I thinks it is probably safer to rent on arrival but you get quite good discounts for pre-booking and since we are a group of 8 is can make quite a difference - also since paying in SA Rands.
The roads are fine but when you book your car make sure that you specify it should have winter tyres and chains. P.S. also check if your accomodation has parking, since this can be hard to come by. Edited: 11:38 am, today
i went with http://www.meribelski.com/ seemed like decent enough equipment with a decent discount. Also looked for somewhere that was near to where i was staying or en route to the lifts. Ninder
? Er...yeah, that's the article I've provided a link to. Saves clogging up the forum with long articles lol! I've just looked at Ski Republic's prices mind you and they seem quite a lot higher than meribelski.net. I think I might just hire when I get there!
Actually you will be very near the Peisey side of the link so easy to get to and get back from. However as railenthusiast says watch your timing on the way back from La Plagne because it is an expensive taxi ride back. A 6 day Peisey/Vallandry - Les Arcs pass costs 209€ otherwise a 6 day pass with one day Paradiski costs 221€. So it will cost you 12€ to go over. You might consider that. Generally it is agreed that the skiing is better...
