travel insurance Hi all, I'm 19 and heading over to london next year for an unknown period of time. my plan is to work and live in london for about 6 months or more and then travel. In regards to travel insurance, what should i do?? Wait until i'm about to travel ...

Have you checked on the UK website as to whether or not you are eligible for insurance while residing in London? The rules on eligibility seem to change regularly and unless you are on a WHV or have citizenship you may find that you are not covered. Also check out the differences in cover. Blunt yes. Patronizing perhaps - but been around travellers a long while so am very aware of the consequences of not doing sufficient research. The OP asked for suggestions - I gave them. Its up to them to make the decision as to whether they follow up or not - and hopefully they will look beyond the obvious and decide whether the risks/versus consequences are acceptable to them and family. ...

Travel insurance is reasonably cheap to get from the UK when travelling around -assuming you will actually be classified as resident of course. However, the problem with that is that generally* you would be returned to the UK in case of any medical evacuation. Not Australia. *some people do get expat insurance which medivacs you to your home country even when you are actually resident in ...

aussies & kiwis are covered under NHS reciprocal health agreements.. and short trip annual insurance is cheap if youre resident there... Ohwell: Even people w insurance ring the embassies for help. I wasn't getting the treatment required at a hospital in Argentina & the embassys lawyers facilitated a move into another hospital & ICU... which saved my life..
