This trade is rejected under the 'teams must take it in the kiester in a trade with the Lakers just because they were asked' clause of the CBA. In order for the trade to be approved, the Rockets must also include their 2010 first round pick with no protection.

Unfortunately Daryl Morey can't be fleeced with a trade like that.

Teams know how valuable Battier is, coming with Morrison's expiring gets you laughed off the phone for real. It would be nice if they had chips to use, but part of "rebuilding" is gaining picks and youth which the Lakers have neither to offer.

Only possibility of this happening is Yao's injury proves to be career ending. Then the Rockets are done and they start over trading away T-Mac, and trading Battier for picks and expiring contract is a good move.
