Thread: stop smoking

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by Cassielc86
I want to quit smoking, and I'm really nervous about, scared that I won't be able to. I managed to quit while I was pregnant, but for some idiotic reason, i picked it back up after my son was born. I'm pretty stressed out as is because I'm a full time student and my son has turned into a less than perfect sleeper. I'm kinda afraid that I'm gonna turn into a total bitch when i try to quit, but I ...

I just went cold turkey. I couldn't believe it. It really wasn't that hard for me. I have hard that those Commit lozenges (sp?) work. Maybe try those?

Hi! First off I wanna say, you can totally do it! I quit w/ while pregnant w/ my son, and I too for some idiotic reason decided to pick it up again. I decided to quit and was working on quitting. Then I found out I was pregnant again. For me, I've always just tried to cut down, then change to a softer cig. I always made sure to have gum or mints to help as well. I personally think cutting ...

I did gum plus allowing myself to smoke cigars (no inhaling). I also brushed my teeth very often to get used to clean feeling in my mouth.

I ended up getting sick this time every time i would try to smoke and i belive that b/c i threw up while smoking b4 i knew i was pregnant that i'm confident i'll be able to stay quit. I believe you can do it, and a cig is actually something that has ingredients in it that causes aggrivations or something like that I can't remember exactly what, try doing something with your hands to take the ...

I smoked cigarettes before being pregnant with ODS. Then I quit with the exception of smoking when drinking with friends. Then in 07' before getting pregnant with my 08' babies I picked up the habit again b/c everyone I worked with smoked. Then when I found out I was pregnant with my 08' babies I quit immediately. I felt to guilty knowing they were in my belly and so it was easy for me to not ...

I just quit its been almost a month for me, I got sick and didn't and couldn't smoke so that helped me, i did it cold turkey. It's so hard! I still think of it everyday:/ and even dream about it! LOL but i know that it's the best for me and i want to live a long time for my children so i guess that's what keeps me motivated. Good luck!!!

I'm in the same boat.  I quit as soon as I found out I was pregnant.  I quit cold turkey then and found it easier than I thought. After he was born, I'd have 1 a month.  Once he was weaned, I started smoking (only outside, of course!) the same amount as before.  I've quit for a day or two since then, but seem to always find an 'excuse' not too.  (Going away, going out with friends, stressed ...

I had managed to quit for about 3 months and recently started smoking again mostly due to stress. I'm in a class at work so when that's done I will be going back on Chantix. That stuff works REALLY well. My dad and several friends have used it to quit. I also used it to quit. Normally like the first day I quit I'm a total B to be around, not with the Chantix. I stopped and didn't have a problem ...

Is Chantix the pill that blocks the nicotine receptors in your brain? I thought of trying that, but i've heard there are alot of bad side effects, like night terrors and sleep walking. Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement and for sharing your quit smoking stories! I don't feel like such an idiot since I'm not the only one that picked smoking back up after having my son! I buy my ...

YOU TOTALLY CAN DO IT! DH and I decided to both quit when we decided to start TTC our 08 baby.  I wasn't allowed off bc unless we both quit, that was our deal.  What we did was set a quit date and switched from lights to ultra lights.  We both smoked about 12 a day, so we set our quit date out 24 days- Day #1 and #2 we stayed with 12, Day #3 and #4 down to 11, Day #5 and #6 10, etc...
