in this film
he never in the first two - he was great then, one of my favourite characters.
however in this film, sean william scott seemed to over-act in almost every scene, not to mention he kept doing this hideous high pitched laugh that goes through me, which he never did in the first two films
when i first saw this one, it felt awkward and different from the moment he came on screen...
Ruined? You didn't see the same movie than I did: the character has to be 'unfriendly' and the actor played it very well, making a good job at it... As far as the OP comparison with the previous two movies, his conclusion seems affected by the amount of presence from Stifler character, not by facts. Remember, in AP2, he was only part of the group, because he could contribute, financially, NOT ...
yeah.. the character has to be unfriendly
he was unfriendly in the first two films, but in a completely different and far better way
and my conclusion is not affected by the amount of presence from stifler's character at all. i didnt mention anything about the amount of screen time SWS had in this film.
your final sentence has nothing to do with this post
The character was lacking of respect for his friends, on the moment, when it suits him, as well in AP2 (such as turning Sherman into ridicule, at the party at his house), but just did it more frequently in AW. We simply don't see him in, almost, in the original movie, after all. So, he did not get worse, but we see MORE of him, in AW, and that is the point. And the final sentence was about the ...
no, it hasnt got anything to do with the amount that he's in the film; he acts like a completely different character most of the time; a more hyperactive
so when he got older, he got more immature yeah?
Stifler's character is already quite active in AP2, with a very short attention span and boyish (the dildo scene, as example).
In what is he different? In his maniacal laugh? It is there, almost, in AP2, in the scene where he intercepts the telephone call and again, near the end, when his mom left with her car (among the scenes that I remember, long time I haven't watch AP2).
When we get ...
I totally agree with OP.
The character Stiffler in American Wedding was not the same character in the first two. It was completely over the top and almost a parody on the character. He was obnoxious in the first two but not like this. He turned more into a real life Beavis or Butthead. That annoying high pitched laugh was so forced, so stupid and annoying.
He had one or two good moments ...
I turned it off the first time I watched it. He was so annoying and unwatchable. The laugh, the raunchy jokes, everything. I figured Sean William Scott had moved on as an actor and just came back for whatever reason. It didn't fit, it was over the top in every way. Though he got a little more interesting as the movie rolled on. But that poop scene, come on! I just watched the movie on USA....
The poo scene? That is one of the most memorable scene to include in any school text book, ever! Imagine that an actor has to express, in a credible manner, that what he eats, he likes and dislikes it, at the SAME time: he has to convince us that he does not like the poo, but he also has to convince us that he convinces the bride's mother that he likes... the chocolate. He cannot say, x91;...
it was like he wasn't even the same character. in the first 2, sure, he was obnoxious & kind of a dick but he was funny with it, but in AP3 it was like he was retarded, there was no funny or redeeming moments at all!
If the way it is done was not what was intended, it is not JUST SWS which screw up the movie: And that the artistic direction missed that, and that the director, from taking the camera shot to making the final movie cuts, every one from the team sleept over that SWS was not playing what he should, but how fortunate for all of us, YOU, you noted that! Surely you are in a better place than Adam Herz to know what Adam Herz was having in mind......

The ensemble cast in this movie was way stripped down. They had a lot of characters to develop in the first movie, and kind of with the second one too. But in this movie, they got rid of Oz, Nadia, Vicky, Jessica, Shermanator, etc. and made Jim's best friend Kevin essentially a stand-in. They didn't really give Finch much to do until two-thirds in when Cadence came into the picture. Jim was subtly a developed character...a lot more...
