Thread: so should I get it ot not? 35mm f1.8 nikkor

I sold my 50 1.8 as well Great lens but I don't find myself missing the 35 or the 50 now.

50mm's are weird like that. I love my 50/1.4, but I swear, 40% of the time it feel not wide enough and 40% of the time it feels not long enough. I feel like if I have a fast ~30mm and a fast ~85mm, instead of the one 50mm I would be much happier.

Stop thinking about conversion factors when looking for a lens. 50MM is 50MM no matter WHAT camera you mount it on; it is simply the CROP factor of a DX camera that will render the image as IF the lens mounted on it was 75MM (or whatever the conversion is for the camera you want). The crop comes from the camera NOT the lens: so a DX lens simply means it is made for DX cameras, not that it's actually 35MM on a DX body. Also, do not go...

I love the 35mm f/1.8 AF-S DX lens. Before I bought my 18-200, it was the lens that spend the most time on my DLSR. This picture was taken at f/2.8. Focused on the eyes, no post processing done except for the crop. I'd say the picture is pretty sharp

I have this lens. It's a great lens but it is DX. So if you plan on going full frame anytime soon then I would say don't get it. Get a 35 f/2 or 501.8 or 1.4 If you're not this lens is so sharp and light. It has a rubber gasket to keep anything from getting in behind the lens. Colors are great and everything.
