If you are not running low on money and it has not caused a problem, leave it and it will appear on your account as a credit, meaning you should not have to pay anything next month. You can change the day of the month that Sky take the money, if paid by Direct Debit, on the Sky website.

As far as I am aware you can specify a date that you want the money to be taken out of your bank account. At least that is what I have done.

Sounds like you didn't notify Sky or didn't give them enough time to modify the payment. Payments are usually initiated several days in advance so if you're going to pre-empt it manually you need to do so before then. You should also inform Sky that you've done that - it will take time for their systems to respond to a manual payment. I suggest you talk to Sky about moving...

Andrue is correct. 14 days before your payment due date the process begins to get the money from your account. So it doesn't matter if you make a payment over the phone, if it's within this 14 day period the money will still be applied for regardless of what your current balance is. To be fair to yourself, the Sky CS agent should have pointed this out when you asked to ...

If you were paying within 14 days of your DD due date, you should've cancelled the DD. As previously stated, you can register with My Sky and shift your DD date back a few days so that your wages hit the bank before paying Sky.

The due date is the 4th of every month. I get my wages on the 28th of every month. But sky always try taking the money out before the 28th, this isn't right is it?

fackingspiders replied 1 month, 2 weeks ago
As far as I am aware (without reading DD small print) A DD can be taken whenever the recipient wants it regardless of what date it normally goes out. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. Register your account at My Sky and it will say when they expect to take the cash.

From the financial ombudsmen website: direct debits are: customers’ authority for beneficiaries to claim payments (variable in amount and frequency) from the customers’ accounts; and customers’ instructions to their bank to allow the taking of those payments. A standing order requires the customer’s bank to send the money. A direct debit requires the...

My bank told me that it is illegal for sky to go into my bank before the date i was advised, which was the 4th

They never call back. As post #2 states, if you're not short of cash you'll be in credit so won't need to pay next month. I am not sure what Sky CS could of done when you called to pay except advise you that they couldn't stop the DD going through. It would of needed to be cancelled altogether. When your bill is finalised 14 days before it's due, sky apply for the DD for that amount and it cannot be changed. In the...

I used to get a lot of this with BT and always used to call the bank the morning the DD had left the account and get them to recall it, the money was then put back into my account instantly. I dont know if it makes a difference but that was with LloydsTSB, saves any charges from the banks. Last time I done it was about a year ago.
