Thread: several tuners, which is better & why

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by ronfx4
There are several tuners I see avail for my 09 F150. How do I know which is best? Our vehicles have many different computer codes and emission levels from factory, so how is power from one truck differ to another with same motor, but different computer code? Also, do any of these tuners have an warranty? Register today or sign...

I have an 09, and everyone seems to say to hold out for the Edge Evolution. I am leaning towards it because it not only does programing (which I'm not into yet), but it also provides a 4 way digital display of engine readings (ie rpms, manifold temp, etc). They haven't released an 09 F150 one yet (only 250 and above), but the rep I talked to said it's should be out before Xmas.

Are you talking about canned tunes, or custom written tunes? Have you read the sticky in this section? Questions About "TUNES"? Read This! I'm a fan of custom tuning, I went with Mike Troyer at Troyer Performance ( www....

I've been running the SCT Xcal3 custom tuned by VMP Tuning and I'd highly recommend it. I had the Edge before this and it was horrible, IMO. The way the transmission shifted wasn't right and the driveability didn't seem that good. The custom tunes from VMP gave my truck a lot more power, more gas mileage, but most importantly in my opinion is it still has great driveability. Much better throttle...
