seven days in Visayas
Hello People,
This will be my first time in Visayas, and only have 7 days before going to back to Manila. Just want any ideas on Itinerary. I was thinking of staying 1 night in Cebu before heading to Moalboal, then travelling down to Bato (...
Are you serious? 7 days and you've mentioned 6 different places you're going to. You'll spend half your time traveling. Nothing to do in Moalboal if you're not diving, Dumaguette's a nice town but a little out of the way to spend one night. Maybe Siquijor and Bohol for a few days each but even then you're missing a lot. Traveling isn't just about ticking places off.
It's doable, but only just! 1 night in Cebu. Then bus to Moalboal for 1 night. Bus to Bato then ferry to Tampi/Duma 1 night. Ferry to Siquijor (take the first ferry there, hire a trike for the day and get the last ferry back to Duma), overnight Duma.
Early ferry Duma to Bohol. Chocolate Hills are a must. I'd stay at the Dao Diamond Hotel on the outskirts of Tagbiliran. They can organise day ...
interesting you are considering the ride down to bato. I have done that ride countless times but have never gotten tired of it. I think the bus down the southern coast of cebu is one of the best bus rides in the PI, man its fun, twisty road, beautiful scenery, interesting little towns with lots of old spanish relics. I would tighten up your itinerary a bit though. First i would consider not ...
.i would get the boat in santander rather than bato actually. the bato is a car ferry, the santander boat is a pump boat, the pump boat would be faster more fun and it lands you in sibulan which is closer to dumaguete. go to the south bus station in cebu city and tell them you want to go to the pump boat wharf in santander. On the bus get the first seat in front next to the driver so you will ...
We just did it on a fast craft from Santander. Air con bus from South terminal meets the fast craft. Going on the roll on roll of adds more than an our to your trip.
The non-ac buses are the best. Chickens by your side, very loud Visayan music mostly by Yoyoy, vendors selling knickknocks and very active chattering like everyone knows everyone. All these while the bus is flying like there's no tomorrow and an amazing coastline (if coming from Cebu coastline is left side).
Last time I was in the Philippines I stayed on Panglao Island, which is off the coast of Cebu. I would definitely recommend looking into it. It has nice beaches and a real holiday vibe. Stay for 4-5 days and forget the rest. From Panglao, you can hire a motorbike or a driver and do a tour most of Cebu, including the chocolate hills.
Good luck,
Sally
BTW, Panglao is very close to Tagbilaran (I remember it being about 45 mins drive), where you can catch your flight back to Manila on Cebu Pacific airways.
Thanks to everyone who replied ! Your information is much appreciated. I think its doable although I will probably skip Moalboal and just head south from Cebu to Santander to get to Dumaguete on the bus and ferry. And cheers for the info about the flights, that will save me time and just fly to Manila from Tagbiliran instead of going back to Cebu, cheers peeps!!

the bus from Cebu City to Liloan Santander connects with the fastcraft .... the pumpboat terminal is about 200 yards to the north in the village and is more enjoyable...fresh air in your face instead of petrol fumes... they both depart every half hour to hour during the day starting at about 6 am... the fastcraft has the last trip just after sunset ... the take the bato ferry only if you have a vehicle or you want to go across from 8 pm to 5...
