are you taking vitamin A supplements or Accutane?

shipinabottle replied 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Best treatment I've found so far is a leave-on coal tar gel called Psoriasin. You can get it at drugstore.com ... it's an OTC product. It cleared a really bad flare-up for me, and has been keeping me clear since then. *crosses fingers* Also, it's quite gentle on the skin. I hated Nizoral.

I rub it in and leave it on. It comes in both a gel form and an ointment. It works super well, but it doesn't smell good either ....

I have seborrheic dermatitis too and I don't know what to do. Right now, I've just been leaving it alone - I haven't been using any harsh cleansers or creams. I only wash with Cetaphil and then apply Cetaphil lotion after shower. It seems to keep it from getting worse, but it certainly has not been getting any better. The doctor prescribed be desonide lotion and it seems to work well in...

Here is my reply. This disease has been known for about 20/30 years and yet there is still nothing that cures it (just like acne..). I am fully aware that after the Accutane treatment it may come back (although it may not be as bad as before) but at least I was able to sweat without having to scratch my head every second. I dunno about the A.A thing since I, thankfully, don't have any hair disease (I've got a head full of hair lol),...

If you do do this, do not use more than 10% sulfur or you can get a chemical burn or irritation. Yes, I apply this shea butter/sulfur after using the sulfur soap. Ceci. thanks Ceci, did you use this immediately right from the start? Did you get this sulfur...

QUOTE (shipinabottle @ Dec 10 2009, 09:10 PM) any recommendations for a nice, gentle, oil-free DAYTIME facial moisturizer that won't make me look shiny or greasy? anything from the cetaphil line makes me look like a greaseball and so do coconut oil & shea butter, no matter how small an amount i try to use. Im seriously debating about make up at this point. This is just unbearable. Why is this so hard to fight where we have to keep it under control, why cant we get it to go away like acne.

Joellie, my SD started around my nose, and later I got it on my forehead too. I have dandruff as well, but I can easily control that with anti-dandruff shampoo. I don't think my SD became worse or better when I used the oral antibiotic for my acne. Didn't change anything for me. To be honest, I can control my seborrheic dermatitis pretty well with Locobase Repair. My SD is not that bad. It's kinda strange though, Locobase...

I've been taking zinc 50mg, b2/b6 100mg once a day. The redness is less and I don't have dead skin flakes anymore; someone day told me I have beautiful skin/ but then ten minutes after some rude boy told me that why my skin is so red.

QUOTE Can you tell us a little bit more about how your possible development of SD? Maybe diet or also medications before? Do you have sometimes moodswings? How is your stool and concentration...etc. I developed SD after I carelessly allowed a potent shampoo to sit on my face while showering. After I noticed it sort of irritated my skin, I stopped. But two weeks later SD appeared. I tried changing diet but didn't notice improvement in SD....
