Thread: seat belt laws. for or against?

i got pulled over this morning for not wearing my seat belt. in florida, motorcyclists are not required by law to wear a helmet, but a cop can pull you over for the sole reason of not wearing your seat belt. i feel this is a giant violation of my personal rights. i'm registered, insured and i am an adult over 18. if my choice is that i don't wish to wear my seat belt, it should be my choice. how do you guys and gals feel about your...

Against. My kids all know to buckle up as do most of the generations below mine. Me, I don't like 'em and only wear mine on the highway or where I drive over 35. Personal choice.

Of course you should wear a seat belt. Its there for a reason. Unless u have a better reason to risk throwing your life away because you couldn't be bothered to just take a couple of seconds to buckle up. lol

I don't see any reason not to wear one so I'm for it. Its not like its hard to reach over your shoulder and click it in

I always put on my seatbelt when I know I will be texting while driving.

Kids it should be mandatory. Adults? Isn't it incredibly obvious to do so? I have issues too with being told what to do constantly sure. But scraping dead bodies, teeth and eyeballs constantly off the road is something other people have to do if people stop wearing seatbelts. Why make it go back to the bad old days? A simple non fatal crash that is cleaned up and traffic gets moving again turns into a major disaster with death or vicious...

There is no reason not to wear a seatbelt. It's a no-brainer.
