I have four Macs. All have the same Account names and passwords. No problem. It is important that all of them have unique Computer names in the Sharing preference pane. I'm still experimenting with Chronosync, so I can't really offer advice on it, but I can't see how this setup would be a problem. It does simplify local networking tremendously though.

some times TM doesn't want to transfer network setting to the new mac on your network, i just uncheck that in the TM settings.

I use Chronosync to sync two Macs with the same user account name. Not a problem. 10.6. You should look at the crash logs to see the reason for the crash.

Follow up on the chronosync crash. I emailed support and the tech guy told me to upgrade to 10.6.2 and try again. Sure enough that cleared up the crasher.
