My baby is 4 1/2 months....big boy he weighs 20 lbs...... he still wakes up once or twice Twice-a-day during the night for a bottle.... im wondering if i gave him rice cereal in his bottle would he sleep longer??? I give him 6oz of formula, how much rice ceral should go in there???
That's a very normal Normal saline flush schedule, and the rice cereal is dangerous in the bottle, please don't do it. Kids can not only get the obesity Obesity and health Overweight and diabetes, but there is the danger of inhaling it and getting particulate pneumonia. You have a baby, he is waking up on a normal schedule in the night, you won't have to do it much ...
ps -- apparently the rice cereal doesn't even make them sleep any longer, either. Their tummy is only so big, filling it with formula (milk) will give them protein and it will last longer in their system, than would filling it with carbs (rice).
honestly, i would avoid it, especially because he is already so large. You would be giving him empty calories and increasing his chances of obesity Obesity and health Overweight and diabetes. Would you feed a toddler or older child rice just to fill him up?

thx so much for the advice!!! i wont be giving him cereal anytime soon...... its my first baby so i just didnt know.... I dont mind waking up with him it just frustrates me when people tell me how their babies sleep thru the night at 3 months like im doing something wrong. But hes a very happy baby. Thx again
I have three kids.. 13, 7 and 18 months and none of them slept through the night until they were 2 and a half years old.. they are just fine now haha..Just think of it as their way of letting you know they are ok.. I mean I would wake up 10 times a night to make sure they were still breathing.. haha.. so this was just extra confirmation... Also trust yourself and your instincts ...
Now that meli mentioned it, I did a little thinking back and realized that my son only just started sleeping through the *entire* night in the past six months or so, and he is almost 3. Don't let other women's (or, usually, grandmas') bragging stories make you feel like you are somehow getting a low grade on a test. Every child is different, some of those women are fibbing, and ...
I agree with all of the above posts and comments. I am also a first time mom, and my son who is still 4 and half months old wakes up twice during the night for feeding, and I think is pretty much normal.
About the food and cereal I know lot of new moms wants to start them right away but I consider we are not in any type of rush, for now all what he needs is breastmilk/ formula ...
