Hi all!! I'm a newb to the forums and to the recording industry...so tospeak. I'm interested in recording my own music on to a laptop. I'd like todo it on a laptop if possible for mobility reasons...at shows etc... What Idon't know is what software/hardware to use and systemrequirements/recommendations for the laptop. Also, what kind of hardwareinterface would I look for to do more than just ...

Hi, my name is Frank and welcome to the "habit". LOL ! Laptops are not thatdifferent from desktops these days but there are some considerations. Firstthe bulit in sound card will not be good enough quality. If you are goingto spend your time recording you don't want to waste it making tracks thatare dissapointing to you. No, I didn't hit the limit but the disk meter got so high it started makingme nervous about using it. I also wanted other things to be faster. After Iput the 7200 in boot time was half what it was.. almost everything I didgot faster. Seems Widnows and the applications I use play with the drive alot.
