Thread: question about puzzle tutorial

Started 1 month ago by tmfan43
I wasn't quite sure where I should ask this. Sorry if it's in the wrong place. I'm trying to do the puzzle from the video tutorial and I'm having a hard time with the magic wand tool. As I'm trying to select the pieces to be removed, it's not selecting the whole piece, not even half. Also my puzzle pieces seem to be very small. What am I doing wrong?

Part of your problem with the selection may be that your puzzle pieces are small so that the lighter color of the bevel takes up more of the puzzle piece.... so first fix that problem. In the step where you are in the texture dialog, where the sliders are, use the Scaling slider to increase the size of the puzzle pieces. Then, try to make your selection of a puzzle piece and hopefully it will...

Thank you for your help Diana. Unfortunately, I've done both of those and they still seem to be too small.

Hi ... The reason that it is too small is because your photo is a higher resolution than the puzzle texture so this makes the puzzle pieces small. Try this ... using the Elements Editor go to your Photoshop Elements software folder and inside you will find a folder called Presets ... inside that is a folder called Textures. Go inside that and find the texture puzzle.psd ... now you need ...

OK then ... Is your Large Puzzle texture giving you larger puzzle pieces that the other one? If not then did you make sure that Resample Image was checked when you changed its size?? If you are getting larger pieces but still not large enough then resize the puzzle texture to 25 inches ... Wendy

Yes it is giving me larger pieces but maybe not large enough. The "resample image" was checked. I'll try changing the puzzle texture size. Thanks so much for your time Wendy.
