If you can find a nice and its within your budget then go for it unless you can find a bass boat as nice at the same price. My first fishing boat was a 1985 Procraft 1540 (15'4") fish and ski with a 50hp Johnson. Since it was my first one i was thrilled to death to have it. I kept that boat for a few years. I loved that boat. Your first boat is like a lot of your FIRST...you dont forget them...

I've had all kinds of boats...in my opinion, fish and ski is a great combo if you have a young family. Tubing is great for the kids, plus you can fish just fine out of any kind of boat.

I had a friend that had one and he built platforms with pedestal seats for the front & rear and it fished just like a bass boat. He used 2 x 2's for framing, covered with plywood and 'astro-turf'. It actually looked real good and a couple of people could set them out and use it for a ski boat.

I have a 2005 Stratos 486 SF with a 150hp Yamaha four-stroke. The boat is big inside to only be 18.5 feet. It's great for everyone in my family. I have fished up to four guys at a time out of it and then reconfigure for an afternoon of skiing and tubing. I love the windshield on cold mornings and in rain and the wife loves it and the bimini top to keep wind and sun at a minimum. I have two girls 9 and 6. I chose this boat because having...

I have had both a fish n ski (my first) and currently a straight bass boat. Both have their pluses and minuses, but I had a blast and caught lots of fish in my old fish n ski. Personally, I was glad to have the walk through windshield as I fish all year long, and it gets cold out there when you're zipping from spot to spot. You can't go wrong either way.
