Started 2 months, 3 weeks ago by spikestrip

I changed all the gaskets, upper and lower radiator hose, radiator, water pump, got a failsafe thermostat, and replaced all the other smaller hoses in the cooling system. I have tried running bars...

just about 3" of lift with a trackbar.. doing fine

MYSTICSVT replied 3 months, 1 week ago
I have 3" coils with 3/4" spacers on mine. Stock trackbar, no relocation bracket. Looks and drives fine. Goes stright down the road at 75 MPH, and has no wobble whatsoever.

I have a 3" lift but I drilled a new track bar mount hole over (I think) 3/4" to move the axle back to center.

Crap, the fair amount of labor gets intensified by ALOT when you factor in all the rust on this Jeep. It's been in Maine it's whole life. This is gonna suck.

1997 Cherokee Overhaul
Published (2009-12-05 20:27:00)
Are you having any specific issues? If you take it to a shop and tell them you want it overhauled, they will likely do a lot to it that it doesn't need. Personally I would make sure everything is up to date on service and give it a good tune-up, then spend the rest on mods. You could change all the fluids, filters, hoses, and belt. Then give her a new set of plugs, wires, cap and rotor for a few hundred dollars. Then use the rest for a nice...

So you installed a new fuel pump assembly, the hard starting was fixed, and now the Jeep has gone back to its old ways of being hard to start ? Where did you get your fuel pump assembly and how much did you pay for it ?

Hold on, so you didn't need to modify the backing plate or drill new holes from the ZJ? Great write up. I now have two bookmarked. I have the backing plates and everything I need for the install. Just need a garage to work in because I live in an apartment. .
