new basement tile job, floor uneven and wavy Hey guys, So I'm starting a new tile job. The previous covering was carpet. Since this will end up getting warmly yours heating I will cover the cement with Wedi, then ditra, then warmly yours, finally tile (12" porcelain). But what to do about the floor. It's wavy all over, in some ...

Grind the high and fill the low, David. You do not want to install Ditra over Wedi, nor Ditra under your heating system. The Wedi will help some under your heating system if you want to go to that expense, but you must install the Ditra on top of everything except your tile. My opinion; worth price charged. ...

Hey guys, So I'm starting a new tile job. The previous covering was carpet. Since this will end up getting warmly yours heating I will cover the cement with Wedi, then ditra, then warmly yours, finally tile (12" porcelain). But what to do about the floor. It's wavy all over, in some places up to one inch of difference. Do I grind high spots, fill low spots, or try and SLC the whole floor? The room is 20'x9' if that...

Grind the high and fill the low, David. You do not want to install Ditra over Wedi, nor Ditra under your heating system. The Wedi will help some under your heating system if you want to go to that expense, but you must install the Ditra on top of everything except your tile. My opinion; worth price charged.
