Started 1 year, 10 months ago by mlloyd
Now dont everyone get all excited and spooge in your pants. I heard a RUMOR that NJ is looking to pass a law that would allow SLEO II to carry off duty. But that is all I heard and I cant find resources to back it up, so I am looking to see if anyone else has heard that and knows anything about it. Resources would be great, if it does in fact exist. Im not one of those guys who spooges their...

even if they pass a law it would still be up to the chief of police, if he wants to allow them to carry off duty

I personally don;t really see the difference, and if the chief thinks the II is mature enough for that responsibility (which he or she should or they should not of hired that individual) then it should be allowed. The MAJOR gray area here is, when are you actually considered to be a class II. ALot of the II's in the state only work for the summer, and some work here and there, and some work 20 ...

My vote would be hell no!

There's no way this would fly. I thought Class II officers have no jurisdiction/police powers outside of their town?

Hmmm..... Now who really thinks this will happen? Not I. On duty fine(for some) off duty no. If this happens it could get real ugly real quick.

MB81 replied 1 year, 10 months ago
The PBA and FOP will never let this happen. The only thing i could see is allowing Chiefs to allow there II's to carry to and from work since there in uniform...

I know im gonna be called a few names for this but here it goes...Why are some full time LEO's against Class 2 LEO's carrying off duty. They go through the same training as you guys only a few weeks shorter than a full timer. If i am wrong, then educate me on that one. However i really want to know Why some guys are already saying oh hell no and why in the world would the PBA and FOP not let it ...

Way to be a big baby...rather than respond to that post you take the middle school route and say "down with the class II's" with the ZZZZ's. Why dont you just admit that your wrong and move on. You sound like an 11 year old. wah wah wah wah. Your career was started as a classII if Im not mistaken. If you try to respond in a negative way to this post Im gonna reply with: I know you are but what am I, I know you are but what...

You seem to be putting words in my mouth. I never said SPO were immature or any of the other descriptions you seem to have heard. What I did say if when municipalities try to move the ranks of Special Police Officers into those of the full time ranks and assign them the same duties, the State PBA should fight and in the past has done so. They have a use. When used outside of those parameters, the trouble starts. Towns that do so only do so in...

You have fulltimers who lose their gun on theme park rides...being fulltime doesnt make you more responsible or more grown up to handle a firearm...The human services cop who shot a dog was fulltime, should we take guns away from them?  (not intentionally bashing human services, just an example)

Yes one can work full time hours year round. The exemption is your shore resort towns that can employ as many as specials that they need for the summer months only. But getting back to the topic...Im in support of having some more guns out there for the good guys...

I know some class IIs work court only, or even the summer guys at the shore, thats one thing. some class...
