dust clogs fans and heatsinks making it harder for heat to escape. blow out all the dust in your computer and video card and see if that makes a different. your card is probably overheated and most likely needs to be replaced

try someone elses video card in your computer. if it works, the video card is bust. and why didnt you RMA your psu if its not turning off properly? quote Now i don't know if this has anything to do with the problem but I farted and the screen suddenly got *bleep*ed up. - i choked my my chips when i saw this. that is so getting quoted when i get time to do it.

so what's the best way to dust out my pc? Can I use a hairdryer or do I have to take out each piece and dust it off with a brush? sorry I don't know how to quote on here so umm regarding the psu thing, I wasn't thinking it would be a problem but turns out it is, so now I'm rmaing it. Also I really don't have any access to other ppl's video cards or pc because I don't know anybody that has a ...

your psu might be the whole problem. if it is showing problems like this, then there is a good possibility that something is wrong with the power rails, and so it cannot support anywhere near the wattage it is designed for. see how you go with the RMA first, and then we can take it from there. in the meantime, you can do one more thing - does your motherboard have an onboard display port? if so,...

if your motherboard has onboard graphics then plug into that and see if it works.

sorry for late reply guys but i had to wait for my sister to let me use her laptop. Unfortunately my mobo doesn't have onboard graphics. But i got the rma for my psu, i just don't know how to send it in do i fill it up with foam?where do i get the cardboard box? also what's the best latest video card these days, is it the 9800 gtx? i'm going to try to bring my video card to a store for them to ...

just send it in bubble wrap. its got static, but it wont affect your circuitry. besides, this is why you need to keep the packaging for a while, just until everything has been verified as working.

The best latest video card would be the GTX295 for Nvidia and the 5870 for ATI.

hiigaran replied 1 month ago
performance wise, get the GTX 295, but for future proofing, a couple of 5870s in crossfire will be better, as they support directx 11.

quote arcad3 Now i don't know if this has anything to do with the problem but I farted and the screen suddenly got *bleep*ed up. Man, I salute you. quote arcad3 so what's the best way to dust out my pc? Can I use a hairdryer or do I have to take out each piece and dust it off with a brush? you can use a vacuum cleaner at full power or some compressed air cans.

i dont see anything wrong with using that set. there might be a mismatch issue, so you might have to completely replace them still.

I live in an apartment with no carpet or w/e so I don't have vacuum cleaners, I clean the traditional way- with a broom xP I use 1 of the sticks because whenever i plug the other stick in, my computer gets a bluescreen and won't start up. It would suck to spend 100 something on new sticks.. i was thinking of buying this instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146788 Ok so i've never used a compressed...

Compressed air can be found at most stores that have stuff other than only food. As for the memory. Unless you can find the exact same stick purchase new ones. Also if both sticks you have are busted purchase new ones. If you want to use a new one with your old one, you must make sure that the voltages and timings are the exact same. Are you sure your memory is actually dead?
