Recently, my daughter has become very interested in musicals. I've been encouraging her, since I figure that if she's going to be watching TV, even the worst musical is less annoying than Barney or whatever. How about Busby Berkeley musicals from the 1930s? Lots of music, great dancing. Also, Fantasia and Wizard of Oz from the same era

You're going to need some fast forward with Brigadoon. That is an unnecessarily prolonged musical.

Some great suggestions in those lists! I'll get on Mary Poppins and the Wizard of Oz right away. I loved Fantasia when I saw it at about 5 years old, but I think I'll hold off for a bit (it's a teensy bit scary). But it makes me think of Yellow Submarine, which would be about perfect, I think. Don't forget the other Disney animated "classics"--Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, etc. I wonder how The Wiz would go over.

How about Busby Berkeley musicals from the 1930s? Lots of music, great dancing. Also, Fantasia and Wizard of Oz from the same era
